St John’s Winchester

Looking into the social enterprise and charity sector, we found a local charity called St John’s Winchester. After meeting, they told us it was perfect timing for a promotional video, in their key time of growth. You can view our update on this project in our blog.

A Local Charity

St John’s Winchester aim to provide an inspirational community where older people are empowered and enabled to live full and rich lives through quality care and support, housing and friendship. St John’s is one of the country’s oldest charities with a long history of supporting people of limited means. They provide care to around 150 older people who choose to make St John’s Winchester their home.

Promotional Video

After meeting with the Director of the charity, we discovered their need for a promotional video. They wanted to showcase what the charity has on offer as well as highlight it’s importance in the community. We discussed with them what kind of content they wanted filmed and for what purpose. After this, we then had a framework to film the many events going on at the charity, and interview the staff and residents on their stories and experiences.

Interview Techniques

Knowing the purpose of the video before filming really helped us to ask the right questions when interviewing our subjects. Because of this, we had been able to choose different options and greatly improve the flow of the edit. We filmed in their many different rooms and spaces to reflect the number of events going on. By following these processes, our client was able to tell the story they wanted and we made sure we covered everything in their brief. St John’s were delighted with the result and are using it on their website as well as at fundraising events, hoping to increase support in their time of growth.
